Is a Rabbit the Right Pet for My Family?

Mary Cotter of the International House Rabbit Society agrees rabbits can be great pets — but they’re not for everyone. It’s important that you don’t make an impulsive purchase (regarding any pet). And for sure, says Cotter, rabbits disdain hugging.  Kids are hardwired to hug and will often pick up and hug a rabbit, who then struggles and falls. The rabbit may easily become injured. If the rabbit is okay, the rabbit may not trust that person again for some time.  It’s a matter of the “right people” having a rabbit pet says Cotter.

If you have any questions or concerns, you should always visit or call your veterinarian — they are your best resource to ensure the health and well-being of your pets.
