Fans of the Brazilian influencer Jesse Kozechen and his golden retriever, Shurastey, are mourning their deaths in a fatal car crash.
Jesse Kozechen, 29, died driving his 1978 Volkswagen Beetle in a head-on collision with a Ford Escape in Oregon, United States on May 23. His dog, Shurastey, also died on the scene, according to Oregon State Police. Kozechen is reported to have tried to pass a line of cars without realizing they had slowed for a turning vehicle. He then swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed into another vehicle.
According to the statement, the other vehicle’s driver, Eileen Huss, 62, was injured and was transferred to a local hospital via ambulance. The outlet stated that the 2-year-old passenger in the car was unharmed and that the roadway was closed for more than two hours following the event.
Kozechen and his dog were traveling and documenting it on their official Instagram page @Shurastey_. The page “Shurastey or Shuraigow?” according to the Independent, is a wordplay on the dog’s name and The Clash’s song “Should I Stay or Should I Go?”
Since beginning his journey in 2017, Kozechen has driven across 17 countries with his dog in his car and documented it on the Instagram page, which has over 1 million followers. Just days before completing the “dream drive” from Brazil to Alaska, they died in a tragic car accident.
A few days before their deaths, Kozechen published the last photo of himself and Shurastey at one of the campsites in the United States before heading to Canada and eventually Alaska.
